How does your booking process work?
In order to confirm your booking, we request a deposit of 30% of the total package amount, including add ons. This can be paid through our safe and secure booking platform accessible via the booking button on the relevant experience (trip) page. A receipt of this payment will be emailed to you. You will then have until 6 weeks prior to the event date to pay the remaining balance. For our Tonga experience we require final balance payment 8 weeks prior. This final balance will be deducted from the credit card you provide in your initial transaction. Please contact us if you need to make alternative arrangements.
Do you offer payment plans?
We are all for helping you achieve your goals!
In special cases, we are also happy to consider creating a personalised payment plan to support you in reaching your balance. Your initial 30% deposit is still required. Please get in touch via hello@wildawaketravel.com to discuss this further and see how we can make this work for you.
What other information will I receive about my trip after booking?
From around 4 weeks prior to your trip, you will start to receive further emails from us regarding additional information to help you prepare for your departure. For example – a specific packing list, further destination information, travel tips and any final details regarding meeting points etc. And you can of course always get in touch with us as needed so we can answer any questions or concerns you might have.
What is included in the price of the trip?
Each different experience has a different set of inclusions. We try to make them as ‘inclusive’ as possible, but at times there are a few extra meals or add on activities that you will need to pay for, or select to do. These are outlined in the ‘Inclusions’ tab on each trip profile page.
What else do I need to pay for?
You will need to pay for anything outside of the ‘inclusions’ outlined under the Inclusions tab on the experience profile page. This is usually limited to a few meals, any extra activities and service and quite often packages are ‘all inclusive’.
Do I need Insurance?
Yes. We recommend you take out your own insurance to ensure you are fully covered in the case of any incidence whilst you are travelling with us. If you are intending on taking part in any extreme sports or activities, we recommend you make sure your insurance covers you for this.
What if I need to cancel?
We always hope this doesn’t happen, but understand that sometimes it does. As we are a small company, we do have a strict cancellation policy in place. Thanks for your understanding on the need for this, as cancellation do effect us. You can read our full Terms and Condition via the link at the bottom of this page.
What if I’m coming on my own – is that ok?
Absolutely! In fact quite a large proportion of our travellers book on their own. With a great variety of people joining our adventures, it’s a great chance to meet other like minded travellers. If you would like to share a room, feel free to make an inquiry first and we can let you know if there is someone we think you would share well with, or just take the plunge and we will match you up! Otherwise, you can always book yourself a single occupancy room (where available).
*Solo male travellers wishing to twin share – we do ask that you enquire with us first before booking just to check the availability of a twin share room, as this can’t be guaranteed due to the often few number of males who join us. If there is no-one to share with – you can select the luxury of a room all to yourself.
What kind of people can I expect to meet in the group?
We welcome such a diverse range of people on our trips that this is a difficult question to answer – singles, friends, couples; divers, trekkers, adventurers…or even those who just want to chill out. We just never know, and everyone is welcome. But you can bet there will typically be friendly, like-minded folks who love to explore, are open to getting off the beaten path, meeting new cultures and experiences, as well as take the time out to relax. Trips like ours definitely attract people from different parts of the world and different walks of life, and we love that there are always so many interesting stories to be shared around the table. It’s so very inspiring!
How large are your groups?
This does vary between experiences, but ranges from 6 to around 12 maximum, unless otherwise specified on the trip profile page. We like to encourage connection within the group, so large group travel is not really our thing.
Are men welcome on your trips?
Of course! We do get a lot of women travelling with us, but also men and they are very welcome. We do however have to consider twin share arrangements, so on occasions where there is no other male for you to share with, you may be required to book a single room (unless you’re travelling with a partner or friend of course!).
Will we get to do everything on the itinerary?
We create our itineraries and schedules with the intention of sharing everything outlined. However sometimes the weather, a change in the expected location of wildlife, or unexpected travel time (maybe due to elephant road blocks!) means our itinerary might change slightly and some alterations may be necessary. This is to ensure we create the most positive experience we can.
Will I have time to go off and do my own thing?
Depending on the nature of your chosen experience and the itinerary we have created for that, opportunity and time to head off on your own will vary. If this is something of high priority to you, please check the itinerary and trip profile to ensure it is the experience best aligned to your needs.
Group travel requires necessary scheduling and perimeters, especially when we are ‘on the road’, but we strive to allow for your own adventure and exploration time within the group experience where at all possible. Feel free to communicate with us any special experiences you would like to include or create for yourself and we will do our best to help you with that.
What if I’ve never done much yoga before, or am a complete beginner?
Whether you are a complete beginner or have been practicing for some time, our experiences are designed enhance your overall nature travel experience. More information about the yoga element for each trip can be found under the ‘Wellness’ tab on the experience profile page.
Depending on the teacher for your chosen trip, the yoga shared will be a combination of hatha yoga, yin yoga and gentle vinyasa flow.
Fiona and any support teachers are highly experienced and very used to adapting to a variety of levels of experience in a class. So whether you are a beginner or more experienced, the yoga will meet your needs in some way. (It always delivers what you need!). If any of our events have a larger yoga focus for the more serious yoga, this will be highlighted in the description and guide you in making the right choice for you. You can also read about our teachers on the About Us page.
What if I’m not into yoga but want to come along anyway?
That’s totally ok! Whether you are travelling solo or with your friend or partner, this is about creating the experience you want, and you are welcome to do as little or as much as you like – including the yoga element. You can give it a try if you feel the calling, or immerse yourself completely, it’s entirely up to you. And if yoga isn’t your thing, there is guaranteed to be another activity or opportunity that will appeal.
How fit do I need to be?
Our journeys and retreats are not your ‘fly and flop’ kind of travel experience. Each offers a combination of outdoor activities such as diving, cycling and hiking but with also the opportunity to relax by the river, or at times even a pool! We do recommend a moderate level of fitness to ensure you can take part in the program comfortably and to get the most out of the experience.
Alternatively, some of our more retreat-style journeys do not require any particular level of fitness. Just come along and enjoy those beautiful doses of rest and relaxation. To understand more about what activities each experience offers, please read through the profile of the trip you are interested in, or get in touch if you have any more questions.
What should I pack for my trip?
Each experience is going to be different, so therefore what you pack will often vary greatly. We will be in touch closer to your departure with a suggested packing list specific for your destination and the type of activities we will be undertaking.
Can you cater for my specific dietary requirements?
With advance notice any dietary needs can be catered for. If you have concerns, please get in touch to discuss before booking.
